Culture Zone Wrocław within the framework of AIR Wro programme and Berlin Sessions Residency are glad to announce the launch of an open call for a one-month long residency in Berlin. Therefore, cultural, artistic and academic actors from Wrocław and Lower Silesia are invited to apply.
The aim of the residency program is a mapping of the city focusing on models of cooperation between organizations, Berlin’s actors, and citizens. According to the needs of the project suggested by a resident, Berlin Sessions will schedule series of meetings and conversations with managers of independent art spaces and initiatives, festivals, cultural projects and representatives of governmental institutions. The series of interviews and research on structures supporting cultural activities will serve as a collection of innovative and best practice examples. Some of which could be adapted in the framework of future projects. At the end of the residency, a final presentation of the findings is planned. The program of a panel talk, lecture or a discussion will be shaped in close collaboration with the resident and partner organizations.

Long-term partnerships
The project is a continuation of cooperation from 2018 and 2017 when we had a pleasure to host Natalia Jerzak and Paweł Szroniak.
During her residency in Berlin Natalia visited numerous places that work in line with socially engaged art. Wood and furniture DIY workshops, design, screen printing, and city fashion initiatives. She was concentrate on the activities that give a chance to excluded groups to discover new skills, produce in a communal and inclusive way beautiful and useful objects.
Paweł Szroniak continued his research on the local experimental music scene, focusing not only on the artistic phenomenon but also on the processes that create the music community. By interviews with musicians and organizers, he built a subjective atlas of the scene and its historical development (from the 90’s up to now). One of the by-products is a guide listing Spaces for Sound and Experimental Music in Berlin.
